Equality Protection Commissioner Brankica Jankovic said on Monday that inequality levels in Serbia are higher than in Europe.

Jankovic said that the public is still not feeling benefits that Finance Minister Sinisa Mali keeps speaking about. “Serbia is a country of inequality. The state’s income has increased but the unemployment caused by the pandemic remains at the same level. About 30 percent of Serbians are still at risk of poverty,” she told the Kopaonik Business Forum.

The Commissioner told a panel discussion on Inequality and the Public Policy Response that the inequality rate in Serbia is around 33 percent compared to 30.2 percent in Europe.
