Prime Minister Ana Brnabic told OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Teresa Ribeiro that her cabinet is committed to improving the overall media environment.
A government press release quoted her as saying that she views the OSCE as an “extremely important partner” in those efforts as a bridge between the government and the media and civil society organizations.
Brnabic said that the Working Group for the Safety and Protection of Journalists, among other things, regularly monitors the status of current cases of attacks and threats to the safety of journalists. She told Ribeiro that key priorities of the future government include activities on rule of law, primarily judicial reform, and the media.
“Brnabic and Riberio agreed that it is important to continue dialogue and strengthen trust with media and journalist associations on all important issues for the media community,” the press release said and quoted Ribeiro as saying that the OSCE will continue to support all activities aimed at improving the media scene and the position of journalists.
The meeting was attended by Head of the OSCE Mission in Serbia Ambassador Jan Braathu.
