Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that Serbia took a clear stand on the conflict in Ukraine.
Brnabic told the pro-regime TV Happy that Serbia took “the bravest approach and most principled stand” on the war in Ukraine in line with the principles of international law. “Serbia has chosen its own way, a way in line with all the principles of international law. If you respect your territorial integrity you have to respect the territorial integrity of all internationally recognized states. We feel that the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine is very wrong,” she said.
The outgoing prime minister recalled that Serbia “is the only state in Europe” that has not imposed sanctions on Russia.
“Politically, we stated our position clearly but we did not take sides in terms of the sanctions. That is often overlooked. Some ambassadors have forgotten that we did not remain completely neutral. They have to show more understanding for us in terms of sanctions or fight for full respect of our territorial integrity just as they are fighting for the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” she said.
