The Montenegro-Littoral Bishopric said on the occasion of the proceedings of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica for alleged concealment of pedophilia, that “another attempt is being made to provoke the old atmosphere and demonize and discriminate against the Serbian Orthodox Church and its believers.”

The statement comes in response to the said proceeding and Bojan Jovanovic’s book „How We Killed God“, published by the non-governmental organization Montenegro International, noting that Jovanovic slandered the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Montenegro-Littoral Bishopric.

“With full faith in the victory of God’s truth, that this dirty and only seemingly a legal show will end quickly and legally, the Bishopric with indignation rejects all these formally and essentially, both legally and morally, ignorant behind-the-scenes news sensations, because they are exclusively the results of long-exposed and old evil intentions,” said the statement.

“This weak and fragile legal imagination of these protagonists is full of common sense deficits. Namely, that person, who was summoned to testify in Belgrade, should be heard as a witness in the procedure initiated by the publisher of his book at the request of the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica,” it added.

The Bishopric said that another attempt is underway to provoke the old atmosphere of demonization and discrimination of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro, pointing out that "there is nothing more, there is nothing further than that here."

The Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica has launched a procedure against the Montenegro-Littoral Bishopric of the Serbian Orthodox Church and bishop Joanikije, for allegedly covering up pedophilia, on the occasion of the report of the non-governmental organization Montenegro International, the media reported on Friday.
