European Parliament Rapporteur Vladimir Bilcik said on Wednesday that commitment to domestic reforms will be crucial in accelerating Serbia's path towards the European Union.
A press release following an online meeting of the Serbian Parliament European Integration Committee quoted him as saying that MPs showed a wide interest in the European Parliament’s 2019-2020 report on Serbia. “I appreciate the wide interest of MPs in Serbia in discussing this Report; I believe that these open exchanges are an important part of cultivating good parliamentary relations between the European Parliament and the Serbian Skupstina and, ultimately, contribute to a public and political debate on Serbia’s EU future,” he said.
“Today’s meeting comes at an important time for a European future of Serbia, following my meeting with President Vucic in Brussels earlier this week… Commitment to domestic reforms will be crucial in accelerating Serbia’s path towards the EU. Furthermore, achievements in the ongoing Inter-Party Dialogue are equally important,” he said.
