Belgrade Mayor Zoran Radojicic, said Serbia's capital landmarks would be illuminated in blue and green colours on Thursday night to mark International Romani Day.

The goal is to draw attention to the Roma community’s position and the protection of human rights, which guarantee the same chances for everyone, Radojicic has said.

On Wednesday, Tobias Flessenkemper, the head of the Council of Europe (CoE) office in Belgrade, said the discrimination against Roma existed both in the European Union and Serbia but that there were efforts to recognise their culture and contribution to the European civilisations.
