"Today, Serbia's Prime Minister Ana Brnabic again said the untruth that no debate has ever been held on the issue of lithium and boron excavation," the 'Go-Change' movement said on Tuesday.

The movement accused Brnabic of „throwing insults and untruths every day without looking at facts and evidence“.

„She speaks to us in street talk, and that’s why we will see each other in the street. ‘Go-Change’ invites you to protests on Wednesday at 7 pm in (the western town of) Valjevo and 7 pm on Thursday in Belgrade outside the Presidency building. One request: Ban on research and exploitation of boron and lithium,“ the movement’s statement said.

It published an email it said confirmed that „Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and (Mining) Minister Zorana Mihajlovic were invited to a public debate at the Media Center, where the need to ban lithium and boron mining was discussed with, among others, academician Nenad Kostic, professor Predrag Simonovic and scientific advisor Dragana Djordjevic.

Earlier Tuesday, Brnabic said some environmental movements had shown that their activities „are primarily politically directed against (President) Aleksandar Vucic.“

„When someone talks about Green Agenda today and doesn’t say what we have done, how hard the times have been when we invested in it, you feel like you will cry and say, ‘people, aren’t you ashamed.“

The ‘Go-Change’ asked Serbia’s Government to ban the excavation of lithium and boron in Serbia before the April elections and threatened to obstruct the vote. Serbia is due to hold presidential, early general and Belgrade elections on April 3.

She added that no one took seriously the announced obstruction of the election on April 3 and that it was not discussed during the recent MEPs visit to Belgrade.

„This will not happen; this is a country where the law is respected, this is a country of strong institutions,“ Brnabic said.
