The Serbian parliament’s Finance, Budget and Public Spending Committee decided to support an extended deadline for the expropriation of land for the Belgrade Waterfront project for another two years.

According to the draft law supported by the committee, the deadline to file requests for expropriation of land will be extended by another two years. The deadline is being extended with the explanation that the expropriation procedure has not been completed because of the coronavirus pandemic and state of emergency.

Under the existing law on the Belgrade Waterfront project, the deadline for the expropriation procedure was April 14, 2020. The draft law will be debated by MPs on Tuesday.

The Belgrade Waterfront project was launched in 2014.
