Serbia is donating 13,500 doses of vaccines against flu to Bosnia’s Serb-majority Republika Srpska (RS) entity, the RS Ministry of Health and Social Welfare said on Friday.

The ministry said that it will, together with Serbian institutions, take all the necessary steps for the donation to be realised in the coming days in order to ensure that RS citizens have access to the vaccines.

The ministry pointed out that the RS Institute of Public Health has procured 20,000 doses of flu vaccines for free vaccination, as well as 5,000 commercial vaccines, which were used up in a very short time. The Institute decided to procure more, but the suppliers could not provide new doses.

„The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska expresses its gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Serbia for its selfless support and significant assistance to the health system of Republika Srpska, especially during the coronavirus pandemic,“ the statement said.
