Doctor warns pandemic spreading, not easing across Serbia

Serbian pandemic Crisis Staff doctor Srdja Jankovic warned on Tuesday that the pandemic “is not easing but spreading”, adding that the focus should be on the strict enforcement on prevention measures.

Jankovic told the Serbian state TV (RTS) that the new measures will be in place for 10 days because is the least time needed to assess possible changes for the better or worse. He said wearing masks, keeping distance and avoiding gatherings are crucial measures.

He said that the doctors on the Crisis Staff wanted senior elementary school and all high school classes as well as universities to move to online teaching with only lower classes in school but “the assessment was that this is not necessary but remains an option for later”. He said that under existing measures, classes or entire schools in which pupils are infected go to online teaching.
