Serbian Internal Affairs Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on Tuesday that the police would be deployed in greater numbers on the streets across Serbia to help implement the prevention measures introduced to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

He said that the Communal Militia is in charge of checking if the prevention measures are being obeyed but added that the regular police will offer assistance and support to them. “We will be close to where public order is being violated and provide security for everyone,” the minister said.

“If the state said that restaurants and shops can remain open up to 9:00 pm, the police is there to warn people that they have to obey the law which is equal for all,” Vulin told the state TV (RTS).
