Serbian journalists’ association condemns insults against N1 reporter

The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) condemned the sexist insults voiced by a folk singer against N1 TV journalists Zaklina Tatalovic on the pro-government TV Pink.

Singer Aca Lukas appeared on the Hit Tvit talk show and voiced what the UNS said were chauvinist attacks on Tatalovic. “Even though anchor Verica Bradic tried to stop the chauvinist attack by singer Aleksandar Vuksanovic (aka Aca Lukas) against the journalist, TV Pink bears part of the responsibility for what happened,” the UNS statement said.  Lukas is a supporter of President Aleksandar Vucic and his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).

It called all public figures to refrain from insulting journalists and recalled that everyone has the right to criticize the media and journalists but that “insults cannot be justified with freedom of speech”.

The UNS recently criticized N1 TV for publishing a press release from the United Group about the ruling of a court in Switzerland, claiming that the portal was being influenced by its parent company.
