Epidemiologist and pandemic Crisis Staff member Predrag Kon said on Monday that coronavirus infections had been reported in 24 elementary and nine high schools across Serbia.
He told the pro-government Happy TV that he expects classes to continue despite the new information which he called “acceptable data”, adding that he feels that schools are less of risk in terms of infection than large communities where the implementation of prevention measures is impossible.
The doctor said that first data on coronavirus-related deaths was right but that a review of the mortality rate needs to be done to determine exactly what happened. He said that even if the mortality rate had been higher at the start of the pandemic. According to him, the European countries that eased their measures reported resurgence. “We got the second wave early, in June and July, earlier than expected in Europe when the measures were eased in Serbia.
