Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said on Tuesday that the first case of children infecting other children with the coronavirus had been reported at an elementary school in New Belgrade.
Kon, a member of the Serbian government pandemic Crisis Staff, told the pro-regime TV Pink that a child at the school had tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. According to him, that child had a fever. “Just over five days later, a second child got sick. There was no close contact but it’s clear that they did not wear masks outside and were close to each other. That is the only explanation for the transmission,” Kon said.
The doctor said that the whole class was in isolation.
Kon also confirmed that there were six cases of children and teachers being infected in five pre-school facilities.
