The German Vorwerk company started the production of car parts in a new factory in Preljina, near the town of Cacak in central Serbia on Tuesday, after it invested 60 million Euros and planned to employ about 1,000 workers eventually, the Beta news agency reported.

Cacak’s Town Hall invested millions of Euro in the communal infrastructure for the factory, which spread on 45,000 square meters and currently employed 176 people.

The factory, a part of ‘Vorwerk & Son’ company, will produce parts for Volkswagen, Audi, Ford and Opel, and plans to reach 150 million Euro in export by 2025.

Witnessing the start of the production in the factory which was built in 18 months, Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic, said the German company came to stay for decades.

He added the Government allocated millions of Euro to attract the company to Cacak, and that the construction of a motorway was a pre-condition for Germans to come.
