Darija Kisic Tepavcevic, an epidemiologist and a member of Serbia’s anti-corona Crisis Team, said on Monday that only a person without a face mask who had an indoor contact longer than 15 minutes with another person was at risk of being infected with coronavirus, the FoNet news agency reported on Monday.

Her statement came ahead of the June 21 general elections in the country and the opposition and some experts’ warnings that the voting in the current epidemic situation was not safe for people’s health. Still, she told the pro-regime Pink TV that the ballot was not risky „in that sense.“

Kisic Tepavcevic said the face masks should be worn on the way to a polling station and inside it, and that gloves were not too essential.

The Government has recently lifted the limitation of the number of people who could gather outdoor and increased the number of indoor rallies from a hundred to 500 at the same time.

In the meantime, the number of tested positive in Serbia has been on the rise in the last week.
