Chair of Serbian Government’s Coordination Body for Gender Equality, Zorana Mihajlovic, condemned all sexist assaults and urged women to report violence regardless of their profession.

“As someone who condemned all cases of violence against women and who was exposed to violence because of that and because of the job I do, often without any protection in public, I condemn every kind of sexist behaviour and violence against any woman. Unfortunately, we are witnessing that such models of behaviour are becoming widespread,” said Mihajlovic.

Reporting the bullies is the best way to avoid all attempts of manipulations “with this and similar cases” and she emphasised that anyone manipulating with violence against women is a bully himself.

The statement comes a day after N1 TV called for urgent action of the state authorities and stopping the attacks on N1 reporters, specifically the offensive tweets addressed against one of N1’s reporters Zaklina Tatalovic.

The tweets by Informer’s editor, Dragan Vucicevic, were strongly condemned by Serbia’s Equality Protection Commissioner Brankica Jankovic, who assessed them as “absolutely impermissible.”
