Belgrade’s Military Medical Centre will be ready as of Monday to accept the first COVID-19 patients as soon as the civilian healthcare sector asks for that, said Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin.

Speaking to public broadcaster RTS, Vulin said some 6,000 beds were at disposal to the healthcare system, owing to the Army of Serbia’s engagement.

A hospital with 106 oxygen tanks and 60 respirators was prepared at the Military Medical Centre, while its staff will be at disposal as of Monday, the minister confirmed.

According to Vulin, private companies will reconstruct the devastated part of the centre and turn it into a modern hospital “within two weeks.”
