The percentage of positive reports on Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, is on the decline, but the negative representation of the opposition that will boycott the upcoming elections is on the rise, Bureau of Social Research (BIRODI) said in its latest monitoring report.
Ministers and the Government of Serbia have 48 percent of positive time in media coverage, which BIRODI reports is below the level of an election campaign.
The monitoring which took place from February 2 to 20 this year was based on a sample of primetime news programs on television with national coverage as well as the cable TV N1. It showed a continued trend of „domination“ of Vucic and his SNS in terms of representation. The drop in positive reposts from 92 percent, which was recorded back in November, to 78 percent recorded in February, shows a still very high percentage of positive reports.
According to BIRODI, as President of the state and leader of the SNS, Vucic had 11,563 „positive seconds“ of air time and 532 „negative seconds“ in the period from February 2 to February 20.
