In answer to general, provincial and local elections in Serbia called for April 26, the leading opposition group Alliance for Serbia (SzS) declared its official boycott of the vote, the FoNet news agency reported.

The leaders of SzS said their boycott is „a big no to the autocracy of (Serbia’s President) Aleksandar Vucic, corruption, crime, lies and deceptions of his regime,“ and „a big yes to a normal, organised and free state.“

„We declared the boycott a long time ago, but today it’s officially called on all levels. The opposition has been trying for over a year to secure free and fair elections,“ Zoran Lutovac, the leader of the Democratic Party (DS) said.

He added that instead of securing a normal and common thing in all democratic country, Vucic’s regime ignored the demands and led his campaign for participation in elections.

„Instead of appreciating the opposition’s demands, he creates a false opposition. With it in the fraudulent ballot there is no legitimacy,“ Lutovac said.

According to him, the Parliament in which there won’t be those who think differently is not a legitimate parliament, regardless of the turnout that will be officially published.

Janko Veselinovic, the head of the Overturn Movement (Pokret za preokret) said that SzS had prepared a draft law on compensation for employees who „were political victims of Aleksandar Vucic’s regime.“ „This law aims to help everyone who lost job; moved to less paid position; did not have their contracts extended because someone from (Serbian Progressive Party) replaced them, and others who were left unemployed and their families without any income and normal life,“ Veselinovic said.
