Goran Vesic, Belgrade's Deputy Mayor, said on Thursday the capital organised one of the most massive outdoor events at the New Year's Eve participated by 60,000 people by the official estimate and some 80,000 as he believed, the FoNet news agency reported.
Vesic added the event outside the Parliament ended without an incident, which, as he put it, was due to good organisation and control of the entry points.
„Safety is important, and that’s one of the reasons why tourists come to a country. Belgrade has an increasing number of visitors. In December, we had over a million foreign tourist,“ he added.
He estimated that „it won’t take long before we reach a billion Euros from tourism,“ adding the capital would now focus on congress tourism since „those who come for that spend more money.“
