The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, CoE, (PACE) appointed Peter Beyer, a German MP for its special rapporteur for Kosovo, the Beta news agency reported on Thursday.
In a move apparently following the US appointment of a special envoy to Kosovo talks, the CoE said that Kosovo was mentioned in line with the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and without determining its future status.

Last October the US President Donald Trump named the US Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell as his envoy to the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue on the normalisation of relations.
Beyer, the German Parliament rapporteur for the Western Balkans, said in Pristina earlier this month that Berlin was against border changes as a part of the dialogue and called on the five European Union member states which had not recognised Kosovo’s independence to do that.
By the end of April, ahead of Belgrade and Pristina leaders meeting in Berlin, Beyer said that the European perspective or both countries would be put aside if they did not show a serious wish for progress in the dialogue.
