Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on Friday that the state is only as strong as its military, adding that the Serbian military can stand up to “the aggression of NATO”.

Speaking at a promotion ceremony for non-commissioned officers and graduates of a military high school with Chief of Staff General Milan Mojsilovic, the minister said that the state is only free to the extent that it can defend its freedom. “This is an army which can say that it opposes NATO aggression, an army that can say that it is an army of the Serb people wherever the Serb people live,” he said.

“We have shown that the military now and the military before 2012 are not the same. This is an army of people who enjoy the trust of their country because this is an army whose supreme commander (Serbian President) Aleksandar Vucic is doing everything to make sure the military is better paid, equipped and stronger,” Vulin said.
