A second Serbian cabinet minister promised higher pay in as many days on Thursday.

Internal Affairs Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic told police officers in the eastern town of Zajecar that they can expect a pay raise in December, a ministry press release said.

A day earlier, Health Care Minister Zlatibor Loncar said that doctors and nurses can expect a pay raise of 10 and 15 percent respectively.

“We are continuing efforts to raise the living standards for Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP) personnel and they can expect a raise in December when they get their November salaries,” Stefanovic said. MUP personnel includes the police, firefighters and other staff.
