Environment Minister Goran Trivan said on Wednesday that Serbia needs to invest up to seven billion Euros to deal with waste and waste waters.

Trivan told a European Investment Bank (EIB) delegation that five billion Euros have to be invested to deal with waste waters and up to two billion to deal with the problem of waste, a ministry press release said.

The minister is quoted as saying that the waste waters problem requires “huge investments which demand good planning and organization in local communities”. “The ministry has helped draw up the technical documents and we have now prepared 13 projects and are working of 33 more,” he said.

Trivan said that well-prepared sustainable development environmental projects are important at a moment when Serbia is launching an investment cycle thanks to a strong economy and growth of the GDP.
