Strong winds and rain hit northern Serbia

Strong wind and rain hit parts of northern Serbia on Monday, forcing emergency services to intervene a large number of times, the Internal Affairs Ministry said in a press release.

Ministry Emergency Sector teams intervened a large number of times in the Northern Backa District during the stormy weather that hit that area. Fire-rescue crews in the northern city of Subotic rescued nine people from a van which was stuck under a highway overpass, the press release said.

Emergency Sector teams also removed trees which had fallen onto roads in 27 places. The press release said that there no injuries were reported during the storm.
