Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said on Monday that Serbia is reforming its security sector with the aim of developing a system which brings peace and stability.
A Foreign Ministry press release quoted him as sayhing that the reforms of the security sector are an important segment of overall reforms in Serbian society. “Those reforms are aimed at establishing and developing a security system which will enable peace, stability and the prosperity of our state and its citizens and guarantees respect for human rights and the rule of law,” Dacic told an OSCE conference on conflict prevention in Bratislava.
He said the strengthening of national security sector capacities to react efficiently to challenges such as terrorism and violent extremism, trans-national organized crime, drug and human trafficking and cyber security challenges requires commitment, determination and resolve among all relevant players. “The key thing is national ownership of the reform process and a comprehensive approach by everyone along with reliable national security sectors,” he added.
