Ramush Haradinaj, outgoing Kosovo’s Prime Minister and the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), said on Tuesday his party and the Social-Democratic Initiative (SDIK) did not agree on an election coalition despite the goodwill on both sides, the Beta news agency reported.
Haradinaj, who met with Fatmir Limaj, the SDIK leader and outgoing Deputy Prime Minister, said Limaj did not discuss the issue with the party official and that no deal was made.
„We are not in favour of an election coalition like in 2017. We are ready to listen to what other political subjects have to say and what are their stands,“ Haradinaj said.
He added that „what we do is working, not waiting for anyone, but work to form an axis for a victory which is a hope for Kosovo’s people.“
Haradinaj, whose resignation from the prime minister post prompted early elections in Kosovo, and the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo (PSD) leader Shpend Ahmeti signed on Monday the coalition deal for the elections scheduled for September 8.
Haradinaj resigned as premier following a call from the Special Court for Kosovo located in The Hague to give a statement as a suspect for alleged war crimes committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) during the 1998-1999 war against Belgrade police and military in the then Serbia’s province.
