The Serbian police got its third Airbus H-145M helicopters on Tuesday at a ceremony at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla airport.

Serbian Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP) Nebojsa Stefanovic told the ceremony that the two Airbus helicopters which were delivered earlier are in use by the MUP helicopter unit, enhancing the capabilities of the police and allowing rapid response in emergency situations.

The minister is quoted in a MUP press release as saying that pilots like the multi-functional helicopters which can be used for medical needs or combat missions.

“These helicopters give our helicopter unit the status that few in the region have. We can do any job in a short time. We will have much better oversight of the state borders, terrain in emergency situations and support for police units in the field,” Stefanovic said.

The minister said a fourth Airbus helicopter will be delivered next April.
