When Minister without portfolio Nenad Popovic said that “the Brussels Agreement is dead” and that there is “no integration into the EU for Serbia anymore,” he was not expressing the view of the government, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Saturday.

“Every minister in the Government is obliged to implement the agreed-upon policy, those not able to do so are free to leave,” said Brnabic.

The Prime Minister’s statement said that Popovic is not competent to comment on the Brussels Agreement as EU integration is not among his responsibilities within the Government.

“He can only make such statements as the leader of his party (Serbian People’s Party, SNP),” she added.

“I remind that the first sentence in my expose and the programme of the government regarding our foreign policy, which the Parliament adopted when it voted for this Government, is that the EU remains our strategic priority and goal,” she stressed.

“This is unambiguously the policy of this Government and it was never open for discussion. Serbia is very stable on its European path,” she concluded.
