The Serbian government has spent more than 95,000 Euros on cutlery, tableware and other items for two villas, the MP Club and the government headquarters, the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) said on Wednesday.

The 11.2 million Dinars were spent on several hundred pieces of cutlery, tablecloths and napkins, it said.

The procurement contract was signed on July 1 with the Fimas and Icofin companies in Belgrade for, among other things, “360 plates of luxury and expensive Rosenthal porcelain, 948 pieces of various cutlery, 810 glasses, 646 tablecloths, napkins, dozens of towels, bedclothes and bathrobes” as well as “610 espresso cups and saucers, 880 coffee cups, 1,066 capucino cups, 714 tea cups, 1,143 porcelain bowls as well as male and female pool and sauna plastic slippers”.

The contract also calls for the procurement of towel and laundry hampers, trays, mixers, vacuum cleaners, irons and vertical suit irons, fans and heaters, ashtrays, clocks and flashlights”, the javno.rs web site reported.

The report said that this is not the first time that the two companies were selected at tender to provide supplies for the government.

“Icofin won a tender worth 24,884 Euros as the only bidder in the summer of 2018 and Finas got a contract worth almost 60,000 Euros also as the only bidder at a tender,” it said and added that the government has earmarked 400,000 Dinars to buy furniture this year and 3.8 million Dinars for sunshades and umbrellas as well as 2.5 million Dinars for flowers.
