The weather in Serbia will remain unstable with thunderstorms and rain, the Republic Hydro-Meteorology Service (RHMZ) said on Tuesday.

Temperatures will range up to 30 degrees C with high levels of humidity, a press release said and warned that the weather could cause problems for people with coronary ailments and rheumatism.

Weather services across Europe also warned of a heat wave with temperatures of 40 degrees C or more in the next few days after a heat wave struck southern areas of France from the Sahara.

The French authorities said the impending heat wave will be the hottest since 1947 and have issued warnings of higher pollution levels. High school graduates will not sit their final exams next week as scheduled because of the heat wave.

Warnings have also been issued in Spain where the heat wave is expected to bring forest fires.

The governments of Germany and Austria have warned of the worst heat wave in 70 years with thunderstorms predicted and temperatures of just under 40 degrees.

British weather services have warned of possible strong storms.
