Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed shock on Friday over the fact that the European Union has not reacted to Kosovo President Hashim Thaci’s opposition to the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM).

The CSM was agreed under the 2013 Brussels Agreement as an umbrella body for the Serb-majority municipalities in the north of Kosovo but was never formed because of disputes over its powers and jurisdiction with Belgrade demanding executive powers and Pristina refusing to grant them. Thaci said earlier this week that he would not allow the forming of the CSM.

“The Brussels Agreements was not signed by St Peter but by (then EU High Representative) Catherine Ashton so let the EU say that it cannot guarentee the implementation of the agreement, that those agreements do not have real power,” Vucic said.

According to the Serbian president, if those agreements are invalid he has no idea “who they think they will talk to”. He expressed hope that the EU will react and “if not we know what to do” but did not specify any possible action to be taken by Belgrade.

“Pristina has only one church it prays in and that is America,” Vucic told reporters at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade after visiting Russian UNMIK staff member Mihail Krasnoschenko who was injured and arrested during the Kosovo police operation on Tuesday.
