Moscow expects the United Nations to take resolute steps following the arrest and injury of Russian UNMIK member Mikhail Kranoshchekov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin told reporters at the UN headquarters in New York, the TASS news agency reported.

„We condemn this. We expect the United Nations to take the most dynamic action possible,“ Vershinin said and added that Moscow made its position on the incident clear in public and in bilateral contacts.

Krasnoshchekov was released the same day and taken to hospital in Kosovska Mitrovica.

Russia’s Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Chepurin reacted to the arrest and injury of the Russian UNMIK member, saying that Pristina’s opposition to his transfer to Belgrade for medical treatment is “outside the boundaries of human understanding”, adding that the Kosovo police beat and injured Krasnoschekov.
