A taxi drivers’ association said on Monday that it would organize a protest againt Car:go in Belgrade on May 27.

A spokesman for the SITAB association said that taxi drivers will protest in front of Belgrade city hall starting at 10:00 am next Monday. “The protest has only one demand – the strict and efficient implementation of the law on transporting passengers which should remove Car:go from the streets,” spokesman Zvezdan Sekulic said.

He said that SITAB would block traffic in the Serbian capital unless the law is implemented within a week of the protest. „Our team of lawyers is preparing a law suit to demand damages from the Belgrade city authorities,“ he added.

Local authorities are in charge of implementing the law that SITAB insists on.
