Raspberry farmers have sustained serious damage because of the cold weather, the head of their association said on Thursday.
Raspberry Farmers‘ Association President Dobrivoje Radovic saud that the snowfall in mountainous areas of Serbia caused serious damage on 90 percent of the crop. He explained that the wet snow had broken branches on raspberry bushes.
Radovic said that this year‘s raspberry crop would be much lower than expected because of the snow and drought, adding that a large number of farmers had not insured their crops.
Raspberrries are a major export item for the Serbian agriculture industry.
