European Integration Minister Jadranka Joksimovic said on Wednesday that Serbia has been receiving some 200 million Euros in grants a year from the European Union.

She told EU Delegation chief Sem Fabrizi that the Union is Serbia’s dominant development partner and is recognized by the population as the most important donor whose member states are the biggest investors in the country’s economy, a statement said.

The minister and the ambassador discussed the ways the grants are being used with focus on the need to strengthen the capacities of ministers and local authorities.

Joksimovic is quoted as expressing the hope that the EU member states will approve the opening of more negotiation chapters this year.

She said that a law on cohesion policy is being drafted.
