The local authorities in the town of Paracin have filed criminal charges against Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) activists who are alleged to have stolen parcels of sweets for underprivileged children.
The parcels of sweets were reported missing after SNS activists left the municipality headquarters building following a sit-in prior to an opposition protest gathering in Belgrade. The activists marched into the building on April 12 saying they were there to protect institutions. Identical sit-ins were staged by the ruling SNS in a number of other places across Serbia.

The missing packages were in paper bags with the municipality logo on them. “The parcels were intended for school children and athletes coming to receptions. Video footage shows SNS activists taking the bags of sweets out of the building,” Paracing Mayor Sasa Paunovic said.
Paunovic released a video showing a man in an ambulance uniform carrying a bag of sandwiches trying to enter the building on the night of April 12-13. Paunovic did not allow the man inside, saying that the SNS activists are free to leave.
