The 1 in 5 Million protest will not include a march through the center of the northern Serbian city of Novi Sad on Friday because organizers feared a counter-rally by the authorities at the same time.

A press release said that the organizers did not know whether it would be safe to march through the city center and did not register the march with the police as they are obliged to do.

The regular weekly protest gathering will start as usual at 06:00 pm on the central Theater Square with organizers calling people to join the announced big protest gathering in Belgrade the following day.

Protest organizers said they would provide details of the organized trip to Belgrade on Friday. The 1 in 5 Million initiative said earlier that the buses to take people to the Serbian capital had not been secured, adding that they were told by the bus companies that they don’t want trouble with the authorities. The statement said that transport by private cars would be organized.
