International and European federations of journalists (IFJ & EFJ) called on participants in the protest outside the private Pink TV to refrain from violence against journalists and appealed to all sides to secure the safety of reporters and media property, the Beta news agency reported on Friday.

The agency cited the Union of Serbia’s Journalists (UNS) as carrying the IFJ and EFJ statement.

“IFJ and EFJ call on security services to have a zero tolerance toward violence, protect all journalists, including the Pink TV staff as well as those reporting on protests,” UNS quoted the statement.

It added that protests, threats and attacks on media in Serbia were alarming and recalled the event from Saturday, March 16, when some demonstrators entered the state RTS television, while N1 faced a campaign of pressure and threats from state officials.
