The Serbian Internal Affairs Ministry has received a donation of 29 vehicles and equipment worth around a million Euros from its German counterpart, the ministry said in a press release on Friday.
Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said that the donation will help improve the efficiency of the Serbian police and added that it is an example of the excellent cooperation with the German police and an indicator of better ties between the two countries.
The German donation also includes narcotics and explosives detectors and ID document verification equipment.
“Since a serious number of investors is coming to Serbia from Germany, our police has the job of making sure the citizens of both countries are safe,” he is quoted as saying.
German Federal Police chief Dieter Roman expressed satisfaction with cooperation to date, especially between the two countries’ border police and voiced the conviction that it will continue to be based on complete trust.
The press release said the ceremony was attended by Germany’s Ambassador in Belgrade Thomas Schieb.
