The association of Swiss Franc mortgage holders CHF Serbia protested in Belgrade on Thursday, demanding that the government solve the problem of their increasing debts as that currency grows stronger.

The protest started in front of the Serbian Constitutional Court with a march to the Serbian presidency building, government, Supreme Cassation and Appeals courts.

Representatives of the CHF Serbia association handed the government a demand to introduce a law which would convert their mortgages into Dinar loans and a law banning the forcible sale of their real estate. They also handed in drafts of both laws.

Lawyer Jelena Pavlovic told reporters that the protest would not end until the Supreme Cassation Court takes a clear stand on the mortgages and loans just like it did no expenses for the processing of loans.

She said that court said it would rule on the issue by October 1, 2018 but has not done so yet and recalled that the judiciary in 13 other countries with the same problem ruled that the bank practice was unfair.
