Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Tuesday that the Komercijalna Bank will get a strategic partner because there is no reason for the government to co-own the bank.
Mali told TV Prva that a contract would be signed with the French financial consulting firm Lazard which will advise the government in the privatization process for the Komercijalna Bank. The government owns 41.74 percent of the bank.
“There are a number of options on the table but the the one thing that is sure is that the bank will get a strategic partner. A tender for a strategic partner will be published in May or June and we hope that the proceedings will be finished by the end of the year. There is no reason for the state to be a co-owner of the bank,” the finance minister said.
