The Airbus H-145 helicopters that Serbia bought for its military will be armed with domestically produced weapons, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on Thursday.

Speaking during a tour of the Airbus Helicopters plant in the German town of Donauworth, Vulin said that helicopter makers rarely if ever allow buyers to install their own weapons but have been assured of the quality of Serbian weapons and engineers, a ministry press release said.

“Serbia is a militarily neutral country. We choose what to get from the East and West, everything which is good for our military will be part of the armaments of our army,” he is quoted as saying.

Vulin attended the handover of the first H-145M helicopter for the Army of Serbia (VS) and first package of equpment whose delivery is scheduled to take place by March next year. The last of the six contracted helicopters will be delivered by the end of 2019. The minister also met with the pilots and engineers undergoing training at the plant.
