Sebastian Kurtz, the Austrian Chancellor, said on Monday Vienna was firmly supporting the Western Balkans’ countries on their way to the European Union, adding the European stability to a considerable extent depended on the regional security, the Beta news agency reported.

At a joint news conference following a working breakfast with five prime ministers from the region, Kurtz said his country was a reliable partner to the Western Balkans which it shared historical, economic, political, cultural and human ties with.

“We think that only when the Western Balkans joins in, the EU will be complete. That’s why we support those countries and have a special focus on the region during our EU Presidency,” Kurtz said.

European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and Mariya Gabriel, the current European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, joined the prime ministers of Serbia, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro and the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina for breakfast.
