The use of antibiotics in Serbia has dropped by more than 30 percent since 2015, Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar told a conference on the rational use of antibiotics in Belgrade on Thursday.

“Since we started the campaign the overall use of antibiotics dropped by 32.8 percent from 36.5 defined daily doses per 1,000 people in 2015 to 24.53 in 2017,” he said.

The minister said that excellent results had been achieved in the care of children, specifying that since 2014 the use of those drugs for children had dropped by 12 percent since 2014.

The Serbian Health Ministry has published a guide on the use of antibiotics for doctors.
