The first ever high-quality food fair – the Belgrade Food Show – opened in the Serbian capital on Monday with 80 local and foreign exhibitors showing their food products.

The two-day even was organized by USAID and Association for the Promotion of Serbia Food to present the Serbian and regional food industry to foreign buyers.
Agriculture Minister Branislav Nedimovic said the Belgrade Food Show would help bring new deals and business partnerships as well as new investment opportunities. He said the fair provided an opportunity to link people who want to buy quality goods with producers to make the Serbian food industry more competitive.

The Serbian food industry has huge potential and that sector has the most room for investments, the minister said.

US Ambassador Kyle Scott told the opening of the fair that Serbian food is of excellent quality and should have an important place on the international market. “Food plays a big role in Serbian society. I think it’s time for more people to see top quality food Serbia produces,” he said.
