Serbian Internal Affairs Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic warned on Thursday that granting Kosovo membership in Interpol would mean that the organization would be siding with Pristina against Belgrade.

Speaking on TV Pink, Stefanovic repeated the government’s view that Kosovo is a part of Serbia and that a status-neutral dialogue is underway between Belgrade and Pristina. The status neutrality would violated if Kosovo were to become a member of any institution. “You are taking Pristina’s stand against Belgrade,” he said, adding that Pristina only wants membership as proof of independence.
