A quarter of polled Serbia's citizens said they supported the separation from Kosovo, while 44 percent did not see that as a solution, the latest survey by the Centre for Free Elections and Democracy, (CeSID), carried by the Beta news agency showed on Tuesday.

CeSID conducted the opinion poll from September 5 to 20, covering 1,510 Serbia’s citizens over 18 years of age in a door-to-door survey.

The answer “all the same” was the choice of 14 percent of the polled, while 17 percent said that they either did not know or couldn’t be sure what to say.

The same survey showed the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), led by President Aleksandar Vucic, as still the most popular with 53.3 percent support.

The Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), the SNS chief coalition partner, is at 8.8 percent.

The opposition Alliance for Serbia could count on 15.3 percent of the votes, while the other opposition groups would struggle for the five percent threshold.
