Serbia will organize large-scale military exercises instead of the planned parade, President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday.
“We probably won’t have a parade but a large-scale exercise to see what our military is capable of, so that it makes sense instead of just being about paint. We paint 100 tanks and drive them through central streets. Instead let’s see what the military can do and whether it can deter a potential aggressor,” Vucic told reporters in China.
The Serbian authorities planned to organize a parade in November to mark the anniversary of the end of World War 2. Official Belgrade invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the anniversary celebration which was supposed to include a military parade.
